Columbia Gas of Ohio Communications Manager Erica Chronaberry said the most impacted counties are: Cuyahoga, Lorain, Medina, Stark, and Columbiana.
LORAIN COUNTY, Ohio - Columbia Gas of Ohio crews are continuing to respond to odor calls throughout Northeast Ohio.
“We understand your concerns and want to ensure you we are making this situation our priority. We will have additional crews reporting to the impacted areas to help expedite response time. If you have already reported an odor of gas at your location, please know we will arrive as soon as possible,” said Chronaberry.Bill Loomer with Columbia Gas said the odor is occurring due to an overabundance of an additive known as mercaptan, added by an upstream supplier.

All natural gas calls are being handled by the fire department as an emergency, but calls are backed up. For minor odors, open windows on opposite sides of the home.
