The new contract will give its union and non-union workforce wage increases totaling about 15 percent in three years.

Chula Vista is giving its workforce a series of pay raises totaling about 15 percent over three years as part of a new contract with its largest employee union.

Though the contract covers represented employees, non-union workers will be afforded similar pay benefits, according to the city. That fund covers costs for training to improve an employee’s skills or help advance their career. Eligible employees can be reimbursed up to $2,000 annually for such resources.

Mayor John McCann praised the new labor deal, though he said he would have liked to see it approved sooner.
