Houston residents can expect a mostly quiet week weather-wise, with the exception of some rain on Wednesday. Wednesday will be chilly with highs only in the lower 50s. Temperatures will start to rise through early Saturday, but a powerful cold front is expected to bring a dramatic drop in temperatures by Sunday. The cold weather is expected to last through the end of January.

HOUSTONWeather will be mainly quiet this week, with the exception of some rain chances on Wednesday. Most of the showers should stay along the coast for the morning commute with a few of them closer to the I-10 corridor by lunchtime. Wednesday will also stay quite chilly, with morning lows in the 40s and highs only in the lower 50s.

The lack of sunshine and rain around will make it a cold day indeed!High temperatures start climbing at or slightly above average through early Saturday ahead of another powerful cold front that will clear the area by Sunday.Behind this front temperatures will free-fall for Sunday into the following week. For the Chevron Marathon Sunday, temperatures are likely going to be in the 40s with sunny and windy conditions, making it feel even colder. That cold weather is expected to stick around through the end of the month according to the Climate Prediction Center. Another outbreak of Arctic air will surge south behind that front, ushering in below normal temperatures into the third week of January. There may be a chance for wintry weather across parts of Southeast Texas during MLK week, however it is still too early for any details on that.KHOU would like to send you push notifications about the latest news and weather
