The rice cooking technique saves money by 'not following instructions'
A chef on TikTok has revealed how he saves money while cooking rice, as his hack cuts the cooking time by a third.
To help people cut down on their bills, @chef_tristan_welch on TikTok shared a cooking hack that slashes the amount of time you're using the hob - and yet still produces perfect results.In the video, he shows a packet of rice that says it takes 15 minutes to cook on the hob. Starting the clip off, he said: "Let's save money by not following the instructions. This is energy-saving rice - let's cut the cooking time by one third.
However, he says to do this three times, until the water runs completely clear. He says this will remove the starchy dust, which makes the rice sticky.
