A new luxury housing development in Carmel is dedicating a portion of their apartment units to people with disabilities.
"We need more of this across our state so that individuals can live independently but also have a quality of life,” Jacob Sipe the Executive Director of the Indiana Housing Community Development Authority said.
"We could do this in all 92 counties. It is replicable. The business model does work especially as we think about integrating it in with market rate housing,” Sipe said. The Arc of Indiana, which advocates for people with disabilities, says there is a lack of affordable housing for people with disabilities, and that developments like this are good.
