The Birmingham Water Works Board will soon be rolling out newly designed bills as part of their plan to address longtime issues that have been plaguing customers. The organization is also working to improve its call center.
Birmingham Water Works PR manager Rick Jackson announced at this week’s board meeting that the company would soon be rolling out newly designed bills as part of their plan to address longtime issues that have been plaguing customers.
Jackson also said that the format of the bill and the sizing of different sections have been changed so that customers can better understand the breakdown of their billed amounts. To help senior customers who Jackson said largely prefer paper bills over online billing, the water works will be visiting senior centers through their Wiser Water community outreach program and working with elder focused nonprofit Positive Maturity to explain the new bills, answer any questions, and gather feedback.
Cole said that when trying to receive assistance, after being automatically billed over $450 following months of not receiving a bill, she was told by one customer service representative that she would be taken off of automated billing. She was also told by another representative that she had to do that herself after the bill had already been charged to her account.
