Despite the initial belief that Officer William Kasberg's death was accidental, the Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office has ruled his death as a suicide. SAN ANTONIO - Despite the initial belief that Officer William Kasberg's death was accidental, the Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office has ruled his death as a suicide.The shooting occurred around 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Columbia Heights Elementary School building off Fitch Street near Zarzamora Street.
According to a press release from the San Antonio Police Department, Kasberg used a personally owned handgun to commit the act. The department has since learned that the Rockport Police Department was criminally investigating Kasberg for an incident that occurred under their jurisdiction. They have provided a Wellness Unit, Psychological Services, Peer Support, and Department chaplains available to department personnel to assist officers during this difficult time.
