Barclays chief executive Jes Staley has stepped down after an investigation by U.K. regulators into his ties with Jeffrey Epstein, the bank
The bank announced Staley’s resignation as CEO—a role he has held since 2015—after being “made aware” of early findings from an investigation by the Financial Conduct Authority and Prudential Regulation Authority Friday evening. This was the “central question underpinning Barclays” support for Staley following Epstein’s arrest in 2019, the bank added.
