'When I got the call [for 'Kim's Convenience'], I just cried because I knew it was lifting me out of credit-card debt,' Liu said.
Simu Liu said that, before he landed his breakout role in the TV show Kim's Convenience, he was in credit-card debt and couldn't see a way out.The actor played Jung Kim in the CBC Television sitcom from 2016 to 2021. He is best known for portraying Shang-Chi in the Marvel film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and also played one of the Ken dolls in Barbie.
'Liu said that his family in China thought he had gone crazy and used him as an example of why you should never leave home. When Harrelson asked if Liu knew about this in real-time, the Barbie star said he did.'I used to go back and visit quite often and basically what just happened is, I stopped getting invited back. I just stopped getting invited back,' Liu added.
