Austin City Council unanimously approved on Thursday Austin Energy's Resource, Generation, and Climate Protection Plan to 2035 which prioritizes reliability, affordability, and environmental sustainability.
Earlier this week, Austin Energy told council members the plan calls for new investment in infrastructure to keep up with the population growth and the surging demand.Just before the vote, District 2 Councilmember Vanessa Fuentes had this to say. Austin Energy's plan will address energy efficiency, phasing out coal, adding more clean and renewable energy, and increasing transmission among other action items in the plan.
