Lehi's defense stepped up in the third quarter to solidify a 48-28 win over Herriman.

LEHI — The third quarter changed the course of the night as Lehi's defense held Herriman just enough to create the needed lead for an eventual 48-28 win for the Pioneers over the Mustangs.

It started when Lehi tight end Grayson Brousseau caught a 17-yard touchdown pass for the first score of the half, which marked the beginning of the Pioneers' victory. Herriman's ensuing possession didn't last long since Lehi intercepted the ball on the 33-yard line, and then followed it up with a 31-yard field goal by Lehi kicker Gavin Fenn.

"Our defense gave up too much in the first half, and they only gave up one in the second half," Lehi head coach Ed Larson said. "Those things kind of changed and got things rolling."
