'1917' follows 2 soldiers on a mission, to make their way through enemy territory and deliver an important message to their comrades. Here's a review of the film:

1917

The film follows two unremarkable soldiers on a mission, to make their way through enemy territory and deliver an important message to their comrades. The Germans have set a trap, seemingly making a strategic withdrawal, but are secretly waiting, armed and ready to slaughter the incoming British soldiers.

Here, the unimaginable horror of life in the trenches is brought to life with an unsettling, almost surreal beauty. The ruined landscape, littered with corpses, feels alien and otherworldly, every single surface simmering with disease, hiding explosives and spiky shards of metal, hostile to all forms of life; people simply shouldn’t be here, and yet, we created it.

Occasionally, between the unrelenting abyss of despair, there are warm flickers of humanity; men bravely risk their lives to help their comrades, a woman lovingly cares for an orphaned baby, and tattered family photos are treasured as sacred relics.
