A heartwarming video of a golden doodle service dog named Tracker has gone viral after he followed his owner's daughter's scent through the snow to alert the family of a low blood sugar episode. Tracker's incredible feat highlights the invaluable role service animals play in the lives of people with diabetes.

A golden doodle service dog named Tracker has recently become an internet sensation after he followed his owner's daughter's scent through the snow to alert his family that she was experiencing low blood sugar . The heartwarming incident, captured on video and shared on TikTok, has highlighted the remarkable abilities of service animals and the crucial role they play in the lives of people with diabetes.

Tracker's owner, Shelby Landreth of Madison, Alabama, explained that her three-year-old daughter, Paisley, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2022. While technology like insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors helps manage her condition, it's not always foolproof. Landreth shared that technology can sometimes disconnect or malfunction, especially during activities like swimming or when Paisley is too far away. Because Paisley is still young, she doesn't always feel the changes in her blood sugar, making it even more important to have reliable monitoring.Tracker came into their lives in December 2024, and he has proven to be an invaluable asset in Paisley's care. Landreth said that Tracker's sense of smell allows him to detect changes in Paisley's blood sugar before technology can, giving them a crucial 15 to 20-minute head start. On January 11, during a winter storm, Tracker alerted the family to Paisley's low blood sugar while she was at a friend's house down the street. Landreth said Tracker was persistent in trying to get her attention, and she eventually let him outside. To her amazement, Tracker followed Paisley's scent through the snow, navigating the neighborhood and leading them directly to her friend's house. The heartwarming video of Tracker's incredible feat has garnered millions of views and has sparked conversations about the importance of service animals. Landreth hopes that the video will raise awareness about the vital role service dogs play in the lives of people with diabetes and other conditions. She emphasized that while technology is helpful, it can't always replace the unique abilities and unwavering dedication of a service dog. She believes that Tracker's story is a testament to the incredible bond between humans and animals and the powerful impact service dogs can have on people's lives
