Negligent Property Manager Issues for US Diplomats Overseas
Property ManagementLegal DisputesLandlord-Tenant Issues

Two US diplomats stationed overseas are seeking advice on dealing with a property management company that has failed to address critical issues raised by their tenant, resulting in costly fines and lost revenue. The diplomats hired the company in July 2024 and have already incurred nearly $15,000 in damages. They are looking for guidance on how to legally terminate the contract and potentially recover some of their losses. They also need advice on responding to notices from the Department of Buildings (DOB).

I was wondering if I could query the group about what to do with a negligent property manager from the landlord perspective. We are US diplomats currently based overseas. We hired a property management company that is clearly failing to address serious issues that have been raised by our tenant to the point things escalated and the city was called.

I am both angry for the tenants who are having to deal with the situation and frankly for myself who feels blindsided by a company I trusted to care for our home while we are 10,000 miles away. We hired the property management company in July 2024, since then they have cost nearly $15,000 in lost revenue and fines by DOB. Has anyone had success hiring legal representation to sever the contract and/or recoup some of the lost money? Additionally does anyone have advice on how best to respond to the DOB notices?”Go to About that Snow – We’ve got an official “Snow Squall Warning”, Traffic and Don’t Forget to Send Your Snow Dogs to Me on Sunday/Monday!!
