A group of armed individuals, described as bandits, stormed the school premises, resulting in the death of a staff member and the abduction of 25 students. According to eyewitness accounts, the attack occurred around 5:00 a.m. local time, with the attackers encountering minimal resistance.
The slain staff member, initially reported as the school principal, was later confirmed to be the vice principal. He reportedly died while attempting to protect the students from the abductors, a loss deeply mourned by the community. Local police confirmed the assault and stated that they dispatched tactical units to engage the suspected bandits. However, the heavily armed attackers were able to evade capture and escape with their captives.\Reports indicate that the bandits arrived in significant numbers, wielding advanced weaponry. Police officials revealed that Commissioner Bello Sani is actively working to ensure the safety of the abducted students and to bring an end to the ongoing threat. The ongoing crisis evokes memories of the devastating 2014 Chibok girls' school raid, where nearly 300 young women were abducted, with over 90 still unaccounted for. Those who were rescued reported being forced into marriage and conversion to Islam. A local intelligence source working with the State Security Services suggested that the Maga kidnapping could be the work of either Dogo Gide or Falando, both notorious bandit groups.
