Iranian Embassy in London Sparks Security Concerns with 'Martyrdom' Recruitment Drive

The Iranian Embassy in London has launched a controversial 'Jan Fada' program, urging UK-based Iranians to enroll in a state-sponsored 'martyrdom' initiative. Security experts warn the campaign could radicalize individuals and pose a significant threat to national security, amid growing concerns over Iranian-linked attacks in the UK.

The Iranian Embassy in London has issued a controversial call to action, urging UK-based Iranians to enroll in a state-sponsored 'martyrdom' program known as ' Jan Fada ,' which translates to 'sacrificing life.

' The embassy's message, posted on its official Telegram channel in Farsi, appeals to 'proud Iranian compatriots residing in Britain' to demonstrate their loyalty by registering for the initiative. The post ominously declares, 'Let us all, to a man, give our bodies to be slain; For it is better than giving our country to the enemy.

' While embassy officials claim the program is merely a display of patriotism and does not advocate violence, security experts and diaspora groups have raised serious concerns about its implications for national security. The campaign, launched last month, has drawn comparisons to recruitment tactics used by other authoritarian regimes, with critics warning that it could radicalize individuals to carry out acts of violence in support of the Islamic Republic.

Roger Macmillan, a former security director at the UK-based dissident news channel Iran International, described the initiative as a 'significant threat to security and our whole way of life,' emphasizing that the regime is not only targeting Iranians but also potential sympathizers willing to act on its behalf. He likened the strategy to an 'escalation' reminiscent of Russian disinformation tactics but with even greater boldness.

Dr. Nadeh Fallah of the Iranian Human Rights & Allies group echoed these concerns, calling for the UK to proscribe the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization. He argued that the IRGC is actively seeking to radicalize and recruit individuals within Britain, posing a direct threat to public safety. The Jan Fada program directs participants to the Iranian Foreign Ministry's Mikhak system, an official platform used for consular services such as passport applications and property transactions.

This integration has heightened fears that the regime is using routine bureaucratic processes to identify and groom potential operatives. The controversy comes amid a wave of Iranian-linked attacks in the UK, including a recent arson attack on a Jewish synagogue in London claimed by the Islamist group Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamia (HAYI), which is under investigation for ties to the Iranian state.

Despite growing pressure, the UK government has yet to take decisive action against the IRGC, though Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has pledged to designate it as a terrorist organization in the upcoming King's Speech. The Iranian Embassy in London has dismissed the allegations, asserting that the Jan Fada program is merely a patriotic endeavor and does not promote hostility.

However, security experts remain unconvinced, warning that the regime's actions represent a clear and present danger to British national security
