A seven-day long total lockdown has been imposed in Amravati City as well as Achalpur town in Amravati district due to a large number of coronavirus patients.

Earlier this week, a weekend lockdown was imposed in Amravati. On February 18, the District Magistrate Shailesh Naval had announced a complete lock-down from Saturday morning to Monday morning. On Friday, all establishments will close at 8 pm, the DM had said. On 20 February, Maharashtra recorded 6,281 new cases and 40 Covid-19 deaths. There are fears that a new strain of the virus might have entered the state too.

Night curfew in PuneEarlier, authorities in Pune announced a night curfew in the city amid a fresh coronavirus spike in the region. No public movement will be allowed in Pune between 11 pm to 6 am except for essential services.
