राष्ट्रवाद, विकास से होते हुए चुनावी फ़िजा में जाति का रंग घुल चुका है. तीन चरणों की वोटिंग के बाद पिछड़ा-अति पिछड़ा, दबे-कुचले वर्ग का बताने की होड़ सी लगी है. नजर उनके बड़े वोट बैंक पर है. देशभर में करीब 16 प्रतिशत दलित आबादी है, जो किसी की हार और किसी की जीत तय करती है. तो मौजूदा लोकसभा चुनाव में दलितों का रुख किस पार्टी की तरफ है?
दरअसल, जनवरी 2016 में हैदराबाद यूनिवर्सिटी के छात्र रोहित वेमुला ने खुदकुशी कर ली. वेमुला की मौत ने पूरे देश को हिला दिया और यहीं से केंद्र की मोदी सरकार के खिलाफ दलित संगठन एकजुट होने लगे. संसद में विपक्षी पार्टियों ने रोहित वेमुला को दलित बताते हुए तब की शिक्षा मंत्री स्मृति ईरानी और केंद्रीय मंत्री बंडारू दत्तात्रेय को घेरा.
उना के बाद भी कई बार कथित गो रक्षकों ने दलितों को निशाना बनाया. इंडिया स्पेंड वेबसाइट की रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक, साल 2012 से 2018 तक लिंचिंग के शिकारों में करीब 10 प्रतिशत दलित वर्ग से रहे हैं. इन सब के बीच उत्तर प्रदेश के सहारनपुर में दलित और राजपूत समुदाय के बीच डीजे बजाने को लेकर विवाद शुरू हुआ, हिंसा हुई और कई दिनों तक तनाव की स्थिति बनी रही. इस मामले में उत्तर प्रदेश ने दलित कार्यकर्ता और भीम आर्मी के नेता चंद्रशेखर आजाद को गिरफ्तार किया. उन्होंने आरोप लगाया कि पुलिस एकतरफा कार्रवाई कर रही है.दलितों में ऊबाल बढ़ता गया. 31 दिसंबर 2017 और 1 जनवरी 2018 की रात को महाराष्ट्र के भीमा कोरेगांव में दलित और मराठा का एक वर्ग आमने-सामने आ गया. एक की मौत भी हुई. इसपर महीनों विवाद चलता रहा.
