Yellow wind, rain warnings issued by Met Éireann

The wind alert is for Clare, Cork and Kerry with conditions set to deteriorate overnight and tomorrow morning.

Southerly winds veering west to northwest are expected to reach mean speeds of 55-65km/h at times, with gusts of 90-110km/h, strongest in coastal areas and on exposed hills and mountains where winds may temporarily exceed these thresholds. The forecaster said that given the time of year with many trees in full leaf, there is a greater potential for wind-related impacts.Meanwhile, a Status Yellow rainfall warning has been issued for Dublin, Louth, Wicklow and Meath.

Met Éireann has forecast heavy downpours overnight and tomorrow morning which may result in river and spot flooding. Forecast chart for 7pm today. It shows the depression which will bring wet and windy weather. It's located in the "left exit" region of the jet streak which causes divergence in the upper levels resulting in upward motion of air which can enhance surface level depressions. pic.twitter.
