Wyndham Clark says "it makes no sense" that viewing figures at this year's Masters were down, after Rory McIlroy pointed the finger at the PGA Tour's ongoing saga with LIV Golf as the reasoning behind the fall.
As well as the fall at Augusta, the final round of February's Waste Management Phoenix Open fell by 35 percent, with the Arnold Palmer Invitational down 30 percent and March's Players Championship falling by 15 percent. " That's a fifth. That's big. I would say the numbers on LIV aren't great either in terms of the people tuning in. I just think with the fighting and everything that's gone on over the past couple of years, people are just getting fatigued, and it's turning people off men's professional golf, and that's not a good thing for anyone.
Despite the 33-year-old's comments, U.S. Open champion Clark is of a different opinion having been left surprised by the fall in interest in the professional game as he disputed the idea off-course politics has negatively impacted interest levels."I just find it really hard to believe that ratings are down," Clark said at this week's RBC Heritage. "If you're at the tournament, it's fantastic. I think people that I do know that are watching it loved it.
