If you didn’t know, bees are responsible for pollinating over 80% of Europe’s crops and wild plants. They are at serious risk of extinction due to pollution and climate change - putting our entire food supply in danger.

For example: In order to make 1 pound of honey, 2 million flowers must be visited by Honeybees. For one single strawberry flower to turn into a strawberry it needs to be visited five times by a bumblebee or 15 times by a honeybee. Encouraging biodiversity and the protection of wildlife should be a priority for every gardener, amatuer or not. Here are the top three ways you can help save the bees:

Speaking to RSVP, Peter said: “It’s vital that we use our gardens to provide food and refuge for bees and other pollinating insects so when planting baskets and containers, include Bacopa, Bidens and Sanvitalia which have proved excellent sources of food for the beneficial insects in the garden.
