The tragic incident took place earlier this month

A female adult was taken from the scene by air ambulance to a Dublin hospital for treatment. Her injuries were described at the time as serious.

An infant boy, aged two, was removed from the scene by ambulance and taken to Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar. He has since been pronounced dead.investigating "all circumstances" regarding the tragedy. On Wednesday , Garda personnel arrested a woman aged in her 40s in connection with the incident.

The woman has been detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda station in the midlands.
