But it gave him his start in music - and now he's representing Ireland at Eurovision

Wild Youth’s Conor O’Donohoe has told how “incredible” it feels for the band to be representing Ireland at Eurovision — and how Måneskin “changed the dial” in the competition.

Måneskin went on to win the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest — and Conor told how they “amplified” Wild Youth feeling they could take part in the contest themselves. “We’re known for our bands worldwide, and I thought it would be quite a cool thing. We feel very lucky that we did the Eurosong and that people believed we could do it.

He said, “To be able to visit these cities, and to also perform and do what we love in these cities, it is already a dream come true for us — and that’s before we even get to Liverpool. He continued, “ Nicky Byrne contacted me straightaway after we won the Eurosong and gave a big long list of advice. “Ryan O’Shaughnessy reached out. My brother met Johnny Logan and he was very kind to my brother about us.Conor also told how pursuing music with his bandmates was something that “felt like a natural process” — noting that “playing together and getting up on stage together just became something that we were so drawn towards.”
