Detailing the 1986 disaster, HBO's new four-part mini-seriesdramatizes the story of the nuclear accident, considered to be one of the worst man-made catastrophes in history, and the sacrifices made to save Europe from an unimaginable disaster.
Directed by Johan Renck and written by Craig Mazin , it features a headlining cast of Jared Harris , Stellan Skarsgård , Emily Watson , and James Cosmo . Along with all of those, the show also features Irish talent including Barry Keoghan and Jessie Buckley , with the series tackling the disaster from multiple angles, from the local and world government reacting to the initial explosion, all the way down to the locals who are forced to evacuate large sections of the USSR.
