Warwick Davis and wife's emotional love story – teen romance to sepsis battle

The actor confirmed the devastating news on Wednesday night, explaining that her "passing has left a huge hole in our lives as a family," in an emotional statement before adding that Samantha was his "most trusted confidant and an ardent supporter of everything I did in my career".

But how did the couple meet? Warwick was just 17 when he landed the lead role as Willow Ufgood in the 1988 movie Willow, alongside Val Kilmer. Samantha Burroughs, 16, had the role of an extra in the movie and the couple swiftly found love with one another. Just four years later, they said "I do" in 1991.

They also lost another son, George, when Samantha was just 19 weeks pregnant, having suffered two miscarriages before Annabelle and Harrison. Speaking to Bear Grylls in 2019, Warwick said: "Prior to Annabelle and Harrison we had a baby boy, Lloyd, who inherited both our conditions… and that is something that proves fatal.

Meanwhile, Samantha had achondroplasia, which is the most common type of dwarfism. Both Annabelle and Harrison have SED. In 2018 Sam underwent an operation which saw her contract sepsis. The infection wreaks havoc on the body's immune system and causes it to attack tissues and organs. Warwick and their children were told that she would die and he informed his children that they should say their goodbyes.
