The Food Safety Authority issued the warning today.

File photo. Image: Shutterstock File photo. Image: Shutterstock THE FOOD SAFETY Authority of Ireland has issued a warning about what it has described as the “dangers” associated with eating cannabis-infused sweets.

In at least one incident, the FSAI said sweets containing cannabis oil were consumed by a number of teenagers, one of whom subsequently suffered serious adverse health effects requiring hospitalisation. THC is the psychotropic cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant that results in the euphoric high in people who consume it by smoking, vaping or eating.

According to Dr Pamela Byrne, Chief Executive, FSAI, THC is a toxic contaminant and should not be added to any food.

Jesus H Christ , kid has a whitey and it makes the news. Legalise and regulate that’s what your story should be about. Educate kids on edibles being way stronger than smoking not, all the children are going to die on drugs 1980s bullshit

Should be legalised.

Chap had a panic attack Legalise it so we can all have one

Literally states dosage on the packet

Drink orange juice. Kills any high

He had the munchies

SLOW DAY at journo AGAIN? Really is this news seriously maybe crazy lazy sad day AGAIN at the journo bog roll media.

Are we going to get warnings everytime a young fella gets his stomach pumped after drinking too much as well?

Another reason to legalise and regulate it.

With a bad case of the munchies 😋!!!

Ah God, remember pulling your first whitey? Rotten but hardly requires a trip to A&E. Probably smarter to not start on edibles, them shits hit hard.

He'll be fine lol

Get him a chipper he’ll be grand 👍

'THC is a toxic contaminant and should not be added to any food.' Can you please explain how THC is toxic? Do you know anyone that died from THC poisoning? THC is psychoactive (no doubts there), but it is definitely not toxic for humans.

All on message today. None of them can say specifically what these 'serious adverse health effects' were though. Why? 'Reefer madness' nonsense and no one is buying it.

Needed hospitalising over having a ‘whitey’.. 🤦‍♂️😆

If only there was a way to regulate it in order to stop things like this happening.......

All aboard the white bus 😂😂

Legalise ta fuck. Joke at this stage
