A village is becoming the "new Magaluf" according to horrified locals who say they have been abused in the street by drunken louts.
All four businesses were serving takeaway alcohol during June, when licensed premises were not allowed to have guests sit in their venues. One of the restaurants mentioned - Dostana - has already been served with police and council warnings after it was repeatedly found to be breaching social distancing rules.
Among the huge number of complaints submitted ahead of next week's four licensing hearings, people complained about being afraid to leave their homes because of the drunken and intimidating behaviour of many of those gathered and drinking in the village. One said: "A shocking number of people have in recent weeks have been gathering in Woolton drinking alcohol; not adhering to social distancing rules. They appear to have got their alcohol from Nowhere, Dostana, Crust & Istanbul.
This description of events was backed up by another resident who lambasted the businesses for selling alcohol to crowds gathered in the area. As well as the many complaints about abusive and antisocial behaviour, many local people believe the crowds that were regularly gathering and drinking in Woolton Village may have contributed to a rise in coronavirus infections that occurred in the area in July.
