Viewers praise 'hero' Shay Given as he opens up on deaths of mum and brother

Viewers of The Tommy Tiernan Show have heaped praise on Shay Given following his raw interview where he discussed the impact of grief has had on his life.

Shay hailed his step-mother, Margaret, for stepping in to fill the maternal hole left in the lives of him and his five siblings.He added: "I would love to have remembered more happier times and more memories . My real memories of my mum was visiting her in hospital." "No one said it but we all knew it was his last trip home. For my dad who is going to be 80 this year, it was a tough one on him. He just felt like he was reliving losing my mum."
