Charlie, a Labrador-Staffordshire Terrier cross, was rushed to the PDSA Pet Hospital in Bow, East London, after she ate a 1kg bag of Cadbury Mini Eggs and began vomiting

Pet owners have been sent an urgent warning from a vet after a beloved pooch became extremely sick from eating Easter treats. With midterm holidays here and Easter just around the corner, many of us are stocking up on festive chocolates for ourselves and the little ones.

PDSA vet Clare Sparks said: "We were suspicious that there could be even more chocolate left in Charlie's stomach, so we gave her an injection to make her sick to empty her stomach completely, and she brought up lots more chocolate vomit." "The seriousness of chocolate poisoning depends on how much chocolate your pet has eaten, how big they are, and the cocoa content of the chocolate the darker the chocolate the more toxic it is for your pet."
