The Taoiseach said the Government wanted to see students start in college as they had planned. “I would encourage anyone studying for their Junior Cert and Leaving Cert to continue to do so.”

He said that rate of increase must be lowered to five per cent or less in order for the health service to adequately cope.

Furthermore, the easing of restrictions will also be dependent on the establishment of a robust contact tracing system. There are 109 patients in intensive care units and there is capacity to ventilate around 1,200 people at any one time. “It will probably be in the form of childcare in the home rather than opening up creches because there will be risks involved with that. We don’t want to do anything that might cause the virus to spread.”

Poor John/Mary are finding it extremely difficult, stressful, can’t sleep, lack of enthusiasm, bored, but are delighted to have 8 more hours to watch tv and play on their play stations. Mammy/daddy think the teachers should be doing more for them. Parental responsibility comes first.

Singularly unhelpful. Seemingly another case of not much innovative thinking being applied here.

The government is not trying to hurt any kids going to college if they had there way you would be doing your exams and off to college to benefit the country . No one knows what tomorrow hods but we all have hope

That’s not what simoncoveney said !!!

Yeah right

No doubt you'll award the numpties 100% in their written exams to boot.

So KILLER PANDEMICS aren't for everyone, Leo? I hope the parents of any children taking these exams remember your disregard for their health and welfare.

He wants to see students start in college as planned? Putting their lives and their relatives lives on the line won't help them go to college as planned. Doing exams during a pandemic is NOT the solution. cancelthelc

Well done Taoiseach the kids should be studying and ready for this , even if it doesn’t come around you are prepared for when it does come around
