Gavin Cromwell-trained Vanillier prepares for the Randox Grand National with a trip to the beach. The nine-year-old aims to improve on his second-place finish from last year's race.

The Gavin Cromwell -trained Vanillier enjoyed a recent trip to the beach ahead of his run in the Randox Grand National this weekend.

“I came away from last year’s race deflated. My wife and parents rang me afterwards and they were extremely excited, but I probably didn’t talk for three or four days. In time, I might appreciate finishing second a bit more, but it’s still a big ‘what if?’ moment for me.” For Flanagan, his Aintree ride is starting to peak at just the right time, and hopes that this year could be their year in Liverpool.
