US Congressman Richard Neal says Irish-UK relations are ‘a bit more chilly at the moment’ than they have been in recent times. Speaking on RTÉ’s Six One, he says the UK seemed 'very vague' about what it wanted over the NI Protocol. | Read:

A senior US Congressman has said that Irish-British relations are currently"more chilly" than they have been in recent times.

He told RTÉ's Six One News that the United States did want to agree a trade deal with the UK, but not at a cost to the Good Friday Agreement. Congressman Neal said it was unclear what the British Government actually wanted to achieve in relation to removing the protocol. But Mr Neal also felt it was"clear" that the EU does want a negotiated settlement, but that it"does not want to see an international agreement signed by the British Prime Minister abrogated".

Richard Neal said he accepted that some people had difficulties with the protocol, but that the American delegation was on a mission to help and their success so far had been"against long odds".

Here’s the reason

GlasgowlovesEu These Brexidiots haven’t got a clue.

Hasn't he read last year's Command Paper from last year which is quite specific? And wasn't this he fool who referred to 'planters'?

Are there really people who are 300 or 400 years old still alive? Amazing!

Can’t imagine why they wouldn’t show their hand to him…..

Planter Really Time for Richard and his colleagues to go home. They've done enough damage.

Is he a Planter or Native American? throwing stones in glass house’s

Could you please tell this ira sympathiser to go home,Not Welcome

Hardly the bastion of good morals!

Americans! They have this fairytale notion that the IRA were honourable in their persuit of a united ireland. Innocent men, women & children were slaughtered wrongfully by all paramilitary groups (not just the ira)

My big mate Sitting Bull has just text me from the USA, saying RepRichardNeal is a proper Planter in the USA, he wants his country back and all the Irish to go back to Ireland. FLOTUS JoeBiden POTUS RepBrendanBoyle RepKevinBoyle WhiteHouse BillClinton HillaryClinton

Just tell him to make sure sleepy Joe doesn't fall going up the stairs again.

Say the man that's want to sort out the northern ireland uk , but yet people in America gunning down children sort out your own country first

As a ‘planter’ a very very offensive line from this mere senator.

Another thick plastic paddy. Jog on yank. You're not Irish and you're not welcome spreading your disinformation here

He is a North American planter, the difference is his ancestors exterminated the Native Americans.

He's needs to go home and deal with the mess in his own country!!

Americaon pro Irish nationalist with no desire to understand the problems or listen to the Unionist community. Why exactly does the EU feel the need to do 20% of its customs checks on Ire/NI trade that accounts for 0.2% of its total trade..if not to cause trouble?

Maybe he’s just not concentrating hard enough. Or being deliberately obtuse. Either way he’ll be out of a job soon.

No Unionist should be meeting with this hateful bitter man.

I like this guy 😎

Wow some tough questions asked there..🙄 typical …

He's a planter himself he needs go home

The IRA supporting terrorist needs to worry more about the so can kiss killed in US today than he does about the UK!

He's talking utter bollocks

Bit fick is he

Maybe this vile man should head home and sort his own country out 🤷‍♂️

Fool.

Away home and sort out your own gun laws you're loosing kids every day of the week... Go and mind your own business 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

More likely he didn't get what was said to him.

RTÉ publishing laughable articles saying an UK invasion of the Republic isn’t out of the question & allowing terms like planter to go unchallenged. High journalist standards, well worth €160.

Disgraceful 😡

Send this rancid old IRA supporter back from whence he came and tell him to mind his own. Zero interest in his thoughts on the issue.

Wonder will they give the land back to the tribes they killed

Why is he spouting Irish Republican rhetoric? Embarrassing American.

FcUK USA trade RepRichardNeal !!! Why call unionists planters ? USAmbUK POTUS

“The planter and the Gael”? And people used to think Trump was bad at diplomacy!

Still can't get over this SF poster boy sponsored by Israel 😂😂😂 ,

Appalling that the RTE journalist didn’t even challenge whether the highly offensive term “planter” was appropriate.

Honestly, what is this rambling nonsense?

The ‘planter’? Is he inferring that I can’t be Irish because I am not a Gael. What bigotry is this from an American politician GBNEWS BBCGarethG endamcclafferty RepRichardNeal BeattieDoug

As vague as your line of questioning.

Not one hard question. Nothing asked about his frequent statement that US is a Guarantor of the Good Friday Agreement. Nothing asked about WHO might threaten the Good Friday Agreement but for the NI Protocol? Clearly they refer to Republican terrorists.

What a scumbag ,Planters ,at least here they bent down and picked their own crops they did not unshackle another human being they had bought to do the work like his forefathers

Perhaps needs to ask csbuckler do do a bit of consultancy work on: ASKING SOME HARD QUESTIONS

Yet I understand perfectly what is being asked for...

'the planter and the Gael' 😆

“The planter and the Gael”. Good god.

The planters are raging 🤣🤣

'to find a place for the Planter and the Gael to live together' To be this embittered towards the unionist minority on the island is truly shocking. It's like watching someone from a different century.

Who is this prat .

'planter' what a horrible, ignorant thing to say.

Terrorism funders still welcome on RTE then. When you’re siding with these people you know you’re wrong.

Americans again sticking their nose where it’s not wanted focus on your own land, and how the average Joe an walk in to SuperValu over there buy a gun and shot up a school 🏫

Well what a surprise from someone who supports one side in this and is anti-UK

What the actual fuck? TUVonline duponline uuponline I suggest your meeting with this creature is sharp and short!!!!

Neal appears to believe that the United States is a ‘guarantor of the Good Friday Agreement’. But it isn’t, not least because the legal position of ‘guarantor’ simply does not exist. (That means the EU isn’t one either.)

Maybe seemed vague because it has nothing to do with you. 👍🏼

I saw several people testifying of making so much money with the help of Richard__Gowen on Bitcoin option trade and I decided to give a try and now I'm glad now he helped me and my colleagues to make £7,580 in 5days trader, thank you for transparency and trust.

🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡

Nice soft ball questions.

The Irish Government are trying to impose unnecessary checks on goods from GB which are consumed in Northern Ireland, just to create a hard Irish Sea border. The checks are bad for business and consumers in NI as they increase cost and reduce choice.

'the planter and the Gael' So unionists are back to being planters in Ireland. 🤦

The US are guardians of the Good Friday Agreement signed of on by Senator George Mitchel. The Good Friday Agreement is the bed rock of peace on the Island of Ireland.

In fairness the UKs relationship with just about everyone is.

It's no wonder when the Irish Government threatened the UK with IRA terrorism if they didn't put all customs checks at the Irish Sea.

Dangerous oversimplification. BoJo created the mess because he’s no idea how to resolve the brexit mess. He’s hardly going to get creative now.
