The Tory leader issued a bombshell statement tonight in a last-ditch bid to get her plan past the House Of Commons

UK Prime Minister Theresa May has told her Conservative MPs she will quit once her Brexit deal is passed. It means she could be out of office by the summer if British MPs decide to finally back her Brexit deal by this Friday.

"I ask everyone in this room to back the deal so we can complete our historic duty – to deliver on the decision of the British people and leave the European Union with a smooth and orderly exit." It came after the government indicated that they could bring back the meaningful vote a third time on Friday.

Mr Barclay said: "In order to maximise our ability to secure that approval the Government will, later today, table a motion for the House to sit this Friday." Responding to Mr Bercow's statement, a Government source said the Speaker was "making it up as he goes along".
