Tyrrell Hatton could be seen angrily reacting and flailing his arms around throughout his second round at the U.S. Open after admitting he ‘loses his head’ every week.
On Friday en route to carding a 71 to sit one-under for the tournament, Hatton played what appeared to be the perfect approach shot on the 13th. The ball landed inches from the pin to the roar of the crowd in the stand, but Hatton had overshot how much spin the ball needed. For all the talk of his fiery personality and mentality out on the course, Hatton takes it in his stride. He suggeted the grind of Pinehurst makes him feel more comfortable among his rivals. It’s certainly not an act. Hatton even admitted he is the same when he plays for fun with friends at home, adding: “If I'm at home, I'd rather play than practice. Being on the range to me is mind-numbing and just boring. I get way more out of going out and playing a round of golf, and every time I go out, it's just trying to shoot as low as possible.
