After a long day of interviews talking all things MMA, Coalán Loughran’s face lights up when asked about GAA.
“I don’t train on Sundays. I train three times a week Monday through Friday and once Saturday. After a week of training if there is a good match on a Saturday evening or Sunday it’s my favourite way to switch off and relax.A return to the GAA fields may have to wait until the MMA career is done and dusted and all focus is bouncing back from his first-ever professional defeat.
“It was three days notice. I got a good opponent that would have been a natural progression from Cage Warriors into the UFC. I took a big jump and, in my opinion, a top 15 guy. Basharat said the same. I think I took a top 15 guy on three days' notice which is not easy for anyone in the division. There is a jump from UFC to Cage Warriors, but I took a big one.”
“He really wants it. He cried looking for the UFC to give him a contract. There’s a lot said for a guy with that type of mentality where this is his dream and he wants to be here. He has a young child and wants to support her.
