Two teenagers arrested on suspicion of raping young woman in Co Down park

Two teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of rape as part of an investigation into a serious sexual assault in Co Down.

At around 6.25am, September 15, a young female reported that she had been assaulted by a number of males in the vicinity of Londonderry Park, a short time earlier, Belfast Live reports.Alliance Councillor for Newtownards Nick Mathison said he was shocked to hear of the incident. “Attacks such as these send shockwaves through the local community. It is disturbing such an incident could take place in our town. We must ensure the streets are safe for all.Detective Sergeant Lennon continues to appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Londonderry Park or Portaferry Road early this morning and who witnessed this incident or anyone who has information that could assist Police with their enquiries to contact detectives in Newtownards on 101, quoting reference 554 15/09/19.
