Twin cows give birth to twins and triplets just days apart on Mayo farm

Twin heifers gave birth to a set of twins and triplets just days apart on a farm in the west and defied massive odds of more than 400,000 to one.The Co Mayo man, who is delighted with the triplets, said the twin Belgian-Blue-cross heifers were bought for foster suckler cows.

“Once I got their feet straightened, I used the calving jack and popped the first calf through. I went search of a second one and all I could feel was a bundle of tails and legs. “All three calves were born with knuckling in the first joints and have since been examined by my vet, showing an improvement day-on-day.”

The heifers have become mothers on the 80-cow suckler farm, which is also home to up to 1,200 hoggets.
