The Chief Executive of the Child and Family Agency Tusla has publicly apologised to a woman who was repeatedly raped by her foster father over a seven-year period

On Friday Kelly Kemmy, 24, waived her right to anonymity so that her abuser, 56-year-old Stephen Murray of Humphreystown, Valleymount, Co Wicklow could be named.

On RTÉ's This Week radio programme, Mr Gloster said:"When she was most entitled to expect to feel most safe and the person she should have been able to rely on most committed the most egregious acts sustained over a very long period of time. An apology is never going to be enough. It doesn't go far enough.""This is an enormous let-down and breach of trust in a foster care system of over 4,000 carers who do really important work with children.

Not good enough they should have supported her at the time it's a disgrace

I think it was Peter Tyndall who stated that a GENUINE apology gives a full, honest & frank explanation as to WHAT went/was done wrong, WHY it went wrong, & what steps are now in place to ENSURE that it doesn't happen again. It was called 'Taking Stock'; pity it had no effect.

Too many apologies! They were too busy chasing down the innocent Maurice Mc Cabe i suppose!

No accountability per usual. Tusla has allowed this to happen time and time again to people. Brave lady and wish her the very best in life.

What is wrong with the system to allow this torture?

Shove your apology. What good is that im sure the flutes responsible who didnt do their jobs all got their big pensions n lump sums.

apologies are useless. Accountability is what's required. And as for the sentence.......11years.....the judge should also have to explain that one.

Wish Kelly the very best in her future & commend her bravery. rodericogorman is the tusla statement the end of the matter or will there be an open inquiry to provide reassurance that lessons have been learned by BernardGloster & his team from this crime.

One look at that “foster father”‘s eyes and you can see the paedophilic sick glint.

Does it not DAWN ON YOU that a Paedophile is GUARANTEED to apply to be a Foster Father using a Woman.

Seem to do nothing else but apologise…

If you Google 'Tusla apology' you get a very busy list.

No amount of apologies will change the fact that the poor girl was viciously raped for a long time. Pitiful, empty apologies. You have failed this girl and many like her.

What an inspirational & strong woman…she’s owed a debt of gratitude.
