Turkey pounded the area with jets and artillery and sent in troops three days after US President Donald Trump told his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan that he would withdraw US forces effectively serving as a buffer. The Turkish assault on the Syrian Kurdish forces - with which the US partnered to combat the Islamic State group - has sparked fears that it could lead to captured fighters they held escaping and reconstituting the group.
Lindsey Graham, a senior Republican senator who is usually a steadfast supporter of Mr Trump, had warned Turkey of "sanctions from hell" if it went ahead with the invasion. But he distanced himself from Mr Graham, saying the senator "would like us to stay there for the next 200 years." President Trump signalled tentative support for sanctions but could veto the legislation if it is approved, setting up a showdown with Congress.

This was going on since Tuesday only now getting onto rte news
Like when the Americans left Vietnam abruptly the people who had fought with the Americans paid a big price...Trump inherited this Syrian regime change war from President Obama...US was never going to commit the large millitary force needed to protect the Kurds from Turkey...

The West are always blamed. When they get involved or not. Muslim lands need to sort out their own culture. Who are we to impose our beliefs? Financial sanctions on abusive countries and self defence if needed.
Why the panic and recrimination? Trump gave everyone 2 yrs Financia$ & Security notice that after carrying the Western World while being constantly abused for the past 60yrs has had a terrible toll on her own people The rest can get the THISTLE out of their pockets and chip in
I wonder will the Brits bring their new poster of the German Chancellor?
