Tributes pour in for musician and footballer (25) after death in Roscommon car-lorry crash

Shortly before 10.00pm, Gardaí received a report of a serious collision involving a lorry and a car on the N61 Athlone Road at Newtown.

According to multiple reports, the dairy farmer was a talented trad musician who also played football for Kilbride GAA club.“The death has occurred of Rian Sheridan, Cluainluáin, Renvyle, Co. Galway, who died tragically on the 27th of March 2024. Beloved only son of Finian and Maria Sheridan, and much loved and adored brother of Ciara, Doireann and Aebhín and brother-in-law Christopher Casey, his nephews Fionn and Shay Casey his loving girlfriend Áine Griffin.

“He was a gentleman always with a kind word for everyone. He was always so full of joy and had an obvious passion for agriculture, sport and of course trad music. A fourth person wrote: “Rian’s smile lit up a room. He was such a pleasant young man. In the prime of his life following his passions, love of animals, music and sport. May good memories shared and proud moments help you all through this awful tragedy. Rest in peace Rian. Thoughts and prayers with you all.”
