Tributes have been paid to Josip Strok, a Croatian man who died five days after being brutally attacked while walking home. Strok, who had been on life support in Tallaght Hospital, lost his fight for life yesterday morning. He was described as a lovely man and a hard worker by his friends.

It is understood the pair had an altercation close to a stop on Tower Road in Clondalkin at around 9.45pm – before they got on a bus towards Bawnogue.But almost immediately they were attacked by a group of four men - and both were injured. But a full investigation with all the resources of a murder probe was underway last night and gardaí are close to identifying the attackers, sources said.He said: “An Incident Room has been set up at Clondalkin Garda Station, with a Senior Investigating Officer overseeing the investigation. Additionally, a Family Liaison Officer has been appointed to provide support and updates to the deceased's family.

The spokesman appealed for witnesses on the bus as well as anyone who witnessed the attack to come forward.
