Speaking during a post-cabinet briefing this afternoon, Mr Coveney said people should not be coming into Ireland if they cannot restrict their movements when they get here."I don’t think we should prevent flights from landing in Ireland or ban international travel, that is not the approach we have taken," he said.
Mr Coveney said there is some evidence that there are tourists in Ireland who are not restricting their movements, adding that this has created a concern across the tourism industry in Ireland. These include ensuring that the passenger locator form is moved online so that they can stand over the accuracy of the information given.He said if a follow-up takes place that shows people are not in the place they say they would be staying in, then they have broken the law. He said there are "severe penalties" for this.
