Top Irish promoter offers hope for returns to gigs and festivals this summer despite Covid

Ireland's leading live music and events promoter MCD insists they are still remaining positive about the return of Irish events this summer - despite the cancellation of Glastonbury this week.

A spokesman told Irish Daily Mirror in a statement: “Glastonbury is the biggest festival in the world and it's sad to see that, due to its enormous scale and taking several months to get the city-sized festival site ready, that it's unable to go ahead this year. “At this time, the virus is particularly prevalent and we all need to keep each other safe and adhere to the restrictions that are in place for our safety and to relieve the pressure on the HSE.

“Together we can all strive to beat the COVID-19 pandemic - please take care and stay safe,” they added. "In spite of our efforts to move Heaven & Earth, it has become clear that we simply will not be able to make the Festival happen. We are so sorry to let you all down. "We thank you for your incredible continued support, and let's look forward to better times ahead. With love, Michael & Emily."
