There are three groups of people that set to receive a social welfare payment worth over €1,800 in one month.

The Carer’s Support Grant is paid to carers once a year by the Department of Social Protection. It was formerly known as the Respite Care Grant. Read more: What cost of living benefits will be paid and what bills are going up in May It is paid in June of each year, with payments usually landing on the first Thursday of the month.

It will automatically be paid to carers getting Carer's Allowance , Carer's Benefit, or Domiciliary Care Allowance.The Carer’s Support Grant is not means tested.During this six month caring period, you cannot:How to apply for the Carer’s Support Grant? If you are getting Carer's Allowance, Carer's Benefit or Domiciliary Care Allowance, you do not need to apply for the Carer's Support Grant.

If you are not getting one of the above payments, you should fill in an application form, found here, for each person you are caring for.
