Three climbers have been killed following an avalanche on Scotland's Ben Nevis this morning

It happened in an area known as the Number 5 Gully at around 11.50am this morning.

This afternoon, a police spokeswoman said: "Police Scotland is currently co-ordinating a mountain rescue response following reports of an avalanche on Ben Nevis this morning.Local volunteers from Lochaber and Glencoe mountain rescue teams remain at the scene.
