Three arrested following 'offensive weapons' seizure in Longford

Three people are due to appear in court after gardaí seized a number of offensive weapons in Longford on Sunday night following the search of a vehicle.

At around 11:45pm on Sunday, May 12, gardaí on patrol stopped and conducted a search of the car on the Athlone Road, Ballymahon, a small town in south Longford. A number of what gardaí have described as “offensive weapons” were seized by officers with two men aged in their 20s and a male juvenile arrested at the scene.The trio were detained at a Garda Station in Co Longford under Section 4, Criminal Justice Act, 1984 in relation to the seizure.

All three males have since been charged and are due to appear before Longford District Court tomorrow morning Tuesday 14 May, 2024 at 10:30am. A spokesperson for gardaí said that investigations into this seizure are ongoing.
