Thousands of passengers were left high and dry on Monday as 16 British Airways flights between Dublin and London were cancelled.It will hit another 16 flights between Dublin Airport and Heathrow on Tuesday.
In a statement BA said: “We understand the frustration and disruption Balpa’s action has caused our customers. After many months of trying to resolve the pay dispute, we are extremely sorry it has come to this.” More than 4,000 BA pilots stayed at home as the long running dispute over pay escalated to full blown strike.The 48 hour stoppage could cost the airline an estimated €80million.British Airways told passengers not to turn up at airports yesterday: “If your flight is cancelled, please do not go to the airport.”Travellers have been offered full refunds, flights on different carriers, or the option to fly on a different date, but should not turn up at the airport without a confirmed flight.
