Willie Mullins was the name on everyone's lips at Cheltenham this week as he mopped up a heap of the festival's biggest prizes.
The maestro of Closutton had nine winners throughout the week, including State Man's victory in the Champion Hurdle and Galopin Des Champs' sensational defence of his Gold Cup crown. Eight of those victories were in Grade 1s, while Mullins had a host of placed horses in the big races. In the Gallagher Novices' Hurdle, he trained the first five horses home.
On Wednesday, Patrick Mullins rode Jasmin De Vaux to win the Champion Bumper and make it 100 Festival winners for his father. By the end of the week, Willie had 103 Cheltenham Festival winners to his name. It all added up a to very profitable week for the trainer, with his small army of horses combining to earn £1,569,474 in total prize money.
