She told RSVP Live: “Can you think of a female Brendan Gleeson, Ciaran Hinds or Liam Neeson? You can’t. Obviously, they’re all lovely and wonderful men, but there isn’t the same space for women and sadly there still isn’t. Pom explained that she has noticed changes in the acting industry, with there being more of an “openness” to develop older female characters.
“They were totally up for that and delighted to bring that onboard. That’s what’s changed, whereas before, if I had said that, it would have been, ‘Sorry, next!” Pom has returned for the second season of The Dry, which sees her character get a new new boyfriend called Finbar, who is played by Michael McElhatton.
