Most Irish people will be hoping to get a nice spell of weather when they plan their trip this summer

With staycations the way forward this year many Irish people are praying for dry weather as they discover Ireland.

But this year Dr Tony Holohan is asking people to ditch their plans abroad and head for some of Ireland's scenic options. Unfortunately the weather is so unpredictable that is impossible to say for certain but historical Met Eireann data does give an indication. For those planning a trip to Dingle, Kinsale or anywhere down around Kerry, the Valentia data will paint a picture of what to expect.

But both months are likely to have 19 days with more than 0.2mm of rain falling - and with the first few days of July looking wet the end of the month could be a good time to book. The trends are much the same with August being that bit warmer than July but also having much more rain.
